Swimming

During the months of October 2003 through December 2003, Honsberger Physiotherapy (Sport Sciences International) was proud to be part of a biomechanical testing program for Markham Aquatics.

Testing included structural and biomechanical examinations for swimmers ranging from age 14-17. 12 of 16 (75%) of the athletes tested had already being dealing with some form of injury.

  • Pelvic imbalance - 81%
  • Abnormal foot mechanics-resulting in abnormal pronation/supination) - 81%
  • Winging scapula (shoulder blade) - 56%
  • Protracted (Anterior) shoulder positioning - 81%
  • Restricted clavicle (collarbone) - 44%
  • Poor Thoracic Spine (Mid-Back) mechanics - 56%
