Rehabilitation programs, within Sport Sciences International, abide by the philosophy of the ‘Four R’s’ within a multi-disciplinary, multi-body system and multi-philosophical approach to maximize gains in a time sensitive manner.
The Four R’s
Release – by using myofascial work we can re-establish the proper length-tension relationships for muscles and reduce fascial tension to allow for proper biomechanical motion.
Re-Align – Through the safe application of manual mobilizations and avoiding high velocity thrust moves we can achieve proper biomechanical posture and motion
Re-Educate – The very nature of an injury and its recovery creates abnormal and ineffective new motor patterns. The key to effective rehab is restoring proper motor patterns.
Re-Build – Strength lost during the acute stage of an injury is needed not only to return the athlete to pre-injury performance levels but to provide biomechanical stability at a platform for performance.
Injuries are not isolated to one particular body system. Sports Sciences International’s programs assess the cause and impact of injuries in all systems:
Muscle / Fascia – soft tissue structures
Neurological – nerve function, disc pathology, proprioception
Visceral – organ performance
Articular / Joint – internal joint structures – meniscus, ligaments
Performance vision – assesses visual performance as a factor in the cause of the injury or poor performance and as a limiting factor in recovery or performance enhancement
To maximize treatment gains in a timely manner Sport Sciences International uses a multi-philosophical approach:
The delivery model, that Sport Sciences International uses, takes advantage of multiple professionals including:
Physiotherapists
Athletic therapists
Massage therapists
Kinesiologists
Personal Trainers
